Ponckle’s Place

4 Guest(s) 2 Bedroom(s) 3 Bed(s) 2 Bathroom(s) Pets Allowed

Description

Ponckle’s is set in St Ives’ old town ‘Downalong’ and its varied roots stretch way back to this ancient town’s historic industry, fishing. With the harbour just a 30 second walk away you’ll soon understand why it was a sail loft many moons ago. Fast forward and you’ll find a popular holiday property full of character…

Named after the previous resident, Ponckle Fletcher, an eccentric and true local character, she was a well known artist with a fondness for cats and St Ives. The property very much lives up to its name with several original Ponckle pieces adorning the walls.

A two bedroom, two bathroom property with modern amenities, sea views, exposed wooden beams, rustic wood floors and a log burner, it ticks many ‘essential’ boxes. The location is hard to beat, you’re steps from the harbour and a couple of minutes walk to two of St Ives best beaches, Porthmeor and Porthgwidden. Finding the quickest routes to each is part of the fun as you wiggle your way down narrow cobbled streets past character cottages… You’ll also land upon the best coffee in St Ives, a few seconds walk away is in Mount Zion, it’s run at a typical Cornish pace, so don’t expect rapid service, but an excellent coffee is guaranteed.

Families will love watching the boats in the bay and running to Smeaton’s pier for crabbing. Couples can mooch to the Silco Sea Room for cocktails and gin before heading back to cosy up by the wood burner or to enjoy dinner with a view. Bringing friends? The two bathrooms will add a helpful touch of privacy to your stay.

It’s one of those properties which will open its arms to everyone, families, couples and four legged friends included (dogs incur an additional charge of £35).
